Energy Technologies and Sustainable Design

Welcome Message

We welcome you to the website of the Interdisciplinary Master's Program "Energy Technologies and Sustainable Design" (DMP-ETAS) of the School of Engineering of the University of Cyprus. The Interdepartmental Master's Program is offered by the four Departments of the School of Engineering and aims at providing an interdisciplinary specialization in the field of Energy Technologies through the framework of Sustainable Design. The interdisciplinary nature of the master's program enables students to deal with subjects from a wide range of scientific backgrounds and scales of design, simulation and computation and to collaborate with academic staff and fellow students from different scientific disciplines to develop synergies and an integrated development of common goals. Graduates of the program can obtain a comprehensive, integrated and interdisciplinary training in Energy, which is undeniably a subject of increasing importance in contemporary development internationally.

Departments

Department of Architecture

Τhe Department of Architecture offers opportunities to develop critical thinking skills through the review and evaluation of the broader concept of sustainability in the built environment. Specific courses with a technological emphasis provide expertise in topics related to the integrated and environmental design of buildings across various building scales, from the building scale to construction details.

Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is engaged in research, teaching and technological development in key areas of energy technologies and energy systems design. Its primary focus is on efficiency, optimal and safe operation of electric power grids, as well as the study and research of renewable energy sources and their integration into the energy balance.

Department of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering provides opportunities for (future) professionals currently involved or planning to be involved with ‘green’ generation systems, energy storage and conservation, to deepen their knowledge of basic theoretical and practical concepts, as well as to gain insights into the latest technological developments in this field.

Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering provides opportunities for research and education aimed at facilitating the transition from the current energy-consuming built environment to a sustainable one. This transition is based on a combination of high energy efficiency in buildings, the utilization of renewable energy sources, and energy conservation, ensuring optimal human comfort and environmental protection.
